Ilana’s Birthing Cabins
Many couples desire a homebirth but their home is not suitable. This could be because they live too far from a hospital to make homebirth a safe option. It is advisable that your home not be more than half an hour from the back-up hospital door to door. It could be that you live on the fourth floor with no elevator, making an emergency transfer very difficult and losing precious time. For some couples it is more practical to leave the children at home with a babysitter, than having to wake them and bring them to the babysitters. It could be that you feel inhibited by the close proximity of neighbors and won’t feel free to make the noise that is part of normal birthing for you. Sometimes it is for reasons of social pressure, and it is easier to tell over-anxious family and friends that you are birthing in a midwives clinic, close to a hospital, than to say you are having a homebirth. Others just prefer to make the mess elsewhere, although the mess is really minimal. Some people want the comfort of the Jacuzzi for pain relief and birth, instead of dealing with finding and setting up a birth pool. Sometimes a couple desires Ilana’s midwifery expertise and services but live too far away for Ilana to travel. For whatever are your reasons, Ilana offers you the use of her birthing cabins at no extra charge, to labor and birth your baby. If you wish to stay longer than 24 hours after birth (unless it is the middle of the night), there is an additional daily fee. Sometimes first-time mothers desire the security of knowing that Ilana is nearby after birth until they feel confident taking care of their newborn. For women with many small children at home, a quiet rest after birth can be greatly appreciated.

At Ilana’s place on Moshav Yashresh you will find two lovely birthing zimmers, or cabins, or B&B’s. They both have Jacuzzis for birthing and have comfortable double beds, kitchenette, and bathroom. In addition there are other accessories, like a birthing ball, massage tools, rocking chair, 3 types of birth stools to try, ceiling rope to hang by, plenty of candles, pillows, and relaxing music to provide an intimate and wonderful birthing environment. There are no rules and regulations and you are invited to bring whoever you wish to assist and to share the joy and beauty of birth. One of the cabins is a wooden one inside and outside. The great thing about these zimmers is their pastoral location, on acres of green grass amidst trees and flowers, which make you feel at one with nature and allowing you total privacy. Ilana and her husband Asher spend much time creating the perfect garden to enhance your birthing environment and give you the opportunity to labor outside in the garden. The atmosphere is one of privacy, intimacy, and dignity. The cabins are located 6 minutes from Kaplan Hospital in Rechovot, and 12 minutes from Asaf Hospital in Zerifin, both friendly back-up hospitals in case a transfer is necessary. Ilana is connected with an ambulance and paramedic service nearby. Of course, emergency equipment and medications are available (but out of sight) if needed while expediting the transfer.
